I had the privilege of knowing Gordon as a scientist, a colleague and a friend. He was a sharp and inspiring thinker and a rigorous experimentalist. On a personal level, Gordon was extremely pleasant and had a fine and elegant sense of humor. For me, it was always a pleasure to meet him in conferences. I am very sorry for his passing.
