Gordon was an outstanding Scientist possessing a clear analytical mind, a talent for experimentation and absolute scientific integrity. As a friend and colleague he was kind, generous and self-effacing. I will remember him with warmth for the advice he gave so generously, not only to me and those who worked with him but also many others. I was always grateful for Gordon's help in straightening my logic and correcting my grammar, a skill which many of his colleagues appreciated. Gordon was one of my closest colleagues and we collaborated on many projects during our years at ICRF. It is a time that I immensely value and will remember with great affection. Since we both retired we have kept in touch, with an occasional visit to a local hostelry to put the world to rights. This is something I will miss greatly.
